American Cancer Society's
Families ROCK Weekend
2003

Xavier Cortada worked with five teams of kids during the American Cancer Society's Families ROCK (Reaching out to Cancer Kids) Weekend to create the following five paintings.  The theme for the five pieces, which Cortada painted, was "fun in the sun."

The kids, all Florida residents, have cancer, or their sibling has cancer. They worked in teams to create messages and drawings that were added to the canvases.  The Red Team was the youngest (5-7 years old), followed by the Yellow, Blue and Purple.  The Green Team was the oldest (16 - 17 years old) .
