Xavier Cortada to present mural at CityCares National Leadership Conference  Xavier Cortada will present his Hands-on Miami-commissioned mural,  "We're in the Same Boat", at the City Cares Conference on February 27th, 2003 at the Miami Beach Convention Center, Miami Beach, Florida. Hands on Miami to Host CityCares National Leadership Conference From February 26-March 1st, Hands On Miami will host the annual CityCares Leadership Conference to be held at the Miami Beach Convention Center. Hands On Miami is an affiliate of CityCares, whose mission is to expand and support an innovative alliance of volunteer organizations through service and civic engagement. There are 31 CityCares affiliates in the United States, all of which run volunteer programs similar to Hands On Miami’s. Held in a different city each year, the three day conference offers a unique forum for affiliates, board members, funders and emerging organizations to share best practices, expand the knowledge and capacity of the network, and to evolve the model of service that each affiliate follows. The theme of this year's conference is The Mosaic of Service: Discovering Strength Through Diversity. This theme reflects the dynamic of the changing nation in which we live, work and serve. CityCares’ builds upon service as a vehicle for bridging differences within communities. Major sponsors of the conference include Coca Cola, Starwood Foundation, and USA Network. Hands On Miami, in partnership with United Way of Miami-Dade, serves as the largest coordinator of volunteer services in the Greater Miami area, organizing more than 80 volunteer projects a month.
