Xavier Cortada has exhibited his works in museums, galleries, and cultural venues around the world and has pioneered the use of the Internet in collaborative art-making. The Miami-based,Cuban American artist has been commissioned to create art for corporate, governmental and non-profit organizations.

Xavier Cortada has worked with diverse community groups across four continents to create pro-social art projects.   Cortada, an attorney and community leader, combines his artistic talent with his concern for social and political issues. Among the topics he has explored through his work are community development, racism, violence, poverty, political freedom, AIDS, and Cuba.  Click on the years below to see projects created during that time period:

Cortada has been the recipient of numerous awards including, the prestigious "Millennium International Volunteer Award" from the U.S. Department of State & USA Today, and the "Florida International Volunteer Corps 1999 Outstanding Achievement Award". In February 2000, invited by the Holy See, Cortada traveled to the Vatican to participate in the Jubilee Day for Artists and meet Pope John Paul II.

The WebStudio is an Internet-based collaborative art project, which allows participants to interact with Miami artist Xavier Cortada through two webcams and a live chatroom. The composition, specific theme, and colors of the paintings will be determined by input provided through the live chatroom during scheduled sessions.
