Art Basel installation:
Glass Mosaic Mural to face MacArthur Causeway

Artists all over town are prepping Miami for Art Basel. 

My contribution is a 15 foot by 10 foot glass mosaic mural of “Kikiriki,” a Caribbean inspired portrait of roosters. (Please see photo of mural being created below). 

Tomorrow December 2, 2003 at 11:30 a.m., the 700 lb piece will be lifted by a crane and permanently installed on Parrot Jungle’s Red Barn (East Wall).  “Kikiriki” will greet passengers traveling on the MacArthur Causeway from South Beach to downtown Miami.  

The piece was created for Parrot Jungle by Bisazza  — see http://www.bisazza.com  (it’s the same company that created my glass mosaics for Niketown and the Juvenile Court House). 

The piece demonstrates how local artists are dressing up Miami for its “art week”.  In this case, it’s art that will remain long after the party ends.
