PCAR - 30 Years - 1975-2005

PCAR and NSVRC logosVOICES AGAINST SEXUAL VIOLENCE

Messages for the Voices Against Sexual Violence Mural have been collected from the public and incorporated into an original work of art. Miami artist Xavier Cortada created a mural from input from the field received via the Internet. View the mural in more detail.

The mural project gives voice to each participant individually and collectively. This has been an opportunity for each of us to be heard and to see our words transformed into a piece of art that can heighten awareness of an issue we are all committed to. With an important thing to say about sexual violence, as a survivor, an advocate, an activist or a member of the community, many have made contributions.

You can read the messages we have received. Please be advised, some of the message may contain strong language.

Xavier Cortada has created art for The White House, The World Bank, The Florida Capitol, The Florida Supreme Court, Nike, International AIDS Conferences, Miami-Dade County Juvenile Courthouse, Miami-Dade County Hall Commission Chambers Foyer, Miami-Dade Art in Public Places and the Miami Art Museum.

The Miami artist has exhibited his works in museums, galleries, and cultural venues around the world and has traveled to four continents to create pro-social community murals and participant-driven art projects. For more information, please visit http://www.cortada.com.
