Festival Miami 2005 Makes a Musical Splash
September 24 - October 29

Cool off with a refreshing array of music this fall with the 22nd Gala Season of Festival Miami 2005. Festival Miami 2005 will showcase 23 outstanding concerts over five weeks, ranging from strings to swing to bossa nova. " Festival Miami provides an exciting way for South Florida to experience world-class music in a first-class setting," states William Hipp, Dean of the Frost School of Music and founder of Festival Miami.

This year’s cover artwork was created especially for Festival Miami 2005 by Xavier Cortada, a renowned Miami artist and UM law school alumnus. The stunning cover presents a bold and colorful blend of musical instruments set adrift against playful waves and deep blue sky.

Festival Miami 2005 kicks off on September 24 with the Gala Opening Night Concert - Gems & Baubles, featuring acclaimed soprano Helen Donath and the University of Miami Symphony Orchestra. Also featured is alumnus and Grammy award-winning singer and songwriter Jon Secada, B.M. '83, M.M. '86; the St. Petersburg Philharmonic Orchestra; Slide Hampton; the Emerson String Quartet; and much more!
