Miami artist
Xavier Cortada, a National Science Foundation (NSF)
Antarctic Artists and Writers Program recipient,
traveled to
Antarctica
during December 2006
- January 2007 to create new works and implement various art
projects (see below).
Some of this artist residency's work will be shown in museum
exhibits including:
"South
Pole Installations," a solo exhibit at the
Centre Gallery at MDC Wolfson Campus during Art
Basel Miami Beach 2007.
"Weather Report,"
a
group exhibit curated by Lucy Lippard, at the Boulder Museum of
Contemporary Art -- opening September 14, 2007.
"Envisioning Change," a
United Nations Environment
Programme-sponsored
group show opening in Oslo, Norway in June
2007 and traveling to Brussels, Monaco and Chicago.
