Master Peace Project
"EXPLORING
COMMUNITY THROUGH MEMORIES" During May and June 1999, Coral Way Elementary School students will be working with Miami artist Xavier Cortada and using Internet technology to help create a collaborative art project for their school. They will exhibit their individual drawings and writings in the web gallery, and can post their comments in a discussion forum. The art project's theme is "Exploring Community through Memories" Students in Ms. Gloria Knowles' art classes and after school program will talk to their parents to see commonalities in their childhoods. They will also imagine how their parents' childhood communities looked and will attempt to draw connections with how their communities are today. This exploration serves to solidify the bond with their school and community. To learn more about the project read the Miami Herald article: Local artist, students create `master peace'.
